Canada eases application requirements for post-study work permits
IRCC has simplified PGWP paperwork for eligible graduates. Here's what still matters most in 2026.
IRCC has eased documentation requirements for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), a welcome shift for Indian graduates. What still matters most:
- •Public colleges in Ontario and BC with strong industry co-op remain the strongest bets.
- •Masters programs at U15 universities were largely unaffected by earlier caps.
- •PG diplomas continue to lead to PGWP eligibility when program length is met.
What still works: strong IELTS, a clear SOP tying program to career, and financial documentation that goes beyond the SDS minimum.
