Study in Malta

Undergrad: IELTS 6.0 overall (no band <5.5), TOEFL iBT 78, PTE 55. Postgrad: IELTS 6.5 (no band <6.0), TOEFL iBT 84+, PTE 58+. Duolingo 100+ widely accepted. MOI letters (Medium of Instruction) are one of the most liberally accepted in the EU — if your bachelor's was fully English-medium, most Maltese private universities (AUM, Global College, IDEA, STC) waive IELTS entirely. University of Malta accepts MOI for select programs but often requires a formal test for competitive tracks.

Non-EU students can work up to 20 hours per week after the first 90 days of registered study. During official breaks (Dec, Jun–Aug) you can work full-time. Typical wages: hospitality/retail €6–9/hr, hotel front desk €8–11/hr, iGaming customer support €9–13/hr, tech internships €10–15/hr, campus jobs €7–10/hr. International students who complete a recognised higher education qualification in Malta can apply for a 9-month post-study residence permit to remain in the country while searching for a job or starting a business. Once they receive a job offer, they can transition to a Single Permit, which combines both work and residence authorization.
